Oh, Look
What’s Around Us!

Desmond Lui invites children from Harvest Care Centre to reimagine the MacPherson estate, and to transform it from a mature neighbourhood, into a land of fantasy and whimsical wonder!

The children crafted their own imaginary creatures, and these creations were digitally composited into photographs taken of the MacPherson estate. These composite images were then housed in display boxes scattered around the neighbourhood, thus allowing the public to seek and peek into the children’s imaginary worlds.

Weaving Thoughts

Artwork by:

Artist Group EMS Art Collective &

Thye Hua Kwan Moral Charities

In this co-creation, EMS Art Collective worked together with seniors from Thye Hua Kwan Moral Society on a series of thread art inspired by their fondest memory of MacPherson.

The seniors have a hands on experience of planning and weaving their favourite topics with thread, culminating into a rainbow tapestry of conversations, stories and memories. The colours reflect the vibrancy and embracing environment of MacPherson and youthful personalities of the seniors.

Housed in individual clear boxes, this collaborative showcase hopes to demonstrate the transparency and laborious process of their art in its unique presentation.

Memory Lane

A vibrant intervention located at the MacPherson canal, Memory Lane celebrates the identity and life of the elderly population in MacPherson.

Often, seniors are an overlooked demographic in the community. Memory Lane seeks to display the seniors, their abilities and their stories, over a canal that is often walked past everyday by people from all walks of life. LiteWerkz worked together with seniors from Care Community Service Society in creating this narrative.

The colours used in the artwork corresponds to the general art style applied across the different HDB blocks in the neighbourhood. Best viewed in daytime, the artwork creates a wonderful colourful shadow play on the street of the canal when in contact with light.

Future Proof

Future Proof aims to document and highlight the history of MacPherson through showcasing recognisable shapes that can be found in the neighbourhood and shapes that resembles memories from the residents.

The transitionary element of the neighbourhood will be showcased through a series of overlapping circle motifs, with the circles representing the ‘Past’, ‘Present, and ‘Future’.

In the rapidly changing landscape of MacPherson, WHADDA... collaborated with residents of the neighbourhood to extract unique shapes and stories to create a tapestry floor mural to serve as a time capsule, ensuring that we have a record for future generations to reminisce.
