Happy Street
Happy Streets is the result of a series of participatory workshops and engagements with the MacPherson community. The goal of the piece was the express residents’ stories and ideas of what their estate stands for, highlighting its heritage and its identity. A sense of pride and ownership was established when residents of all ages showed support, shared stories, and together painted the highly utilised walkway.

Reunion Dinner
‘Reunion Dinner’ was inspired by conversations with the GEHA community whom expressed their love for festive communal activities. In Chinese tradition, the older generation values family reunion dinners. These gatherings reconnect families, and maintain traditions for generations to come. Cheryl wishes to create a place of memory and a shared bond among the residents through the communal act of ‘cooking’ and ‘making’ food.

Woks of Life
Woks of Life is an art installation that is co-created with the senior friends of The Love-Aid Project. Located at the bridge beside the Hawker Centre, the installation consist of easily relatable everyday objects as inspired by the location – woks and pans. The cooking wares, painted by the senior community through various interactive art-related games, will feature their creative visual narratives that will liven up the neighbourhood.

Fare Connections
The artwork, co-created with the students and teachers, celebrates their abilities and creativity with group of portraits of the students. Displayed in public spaces, the artwork enlivens the neighbourhood as it highlights the children and the young talents present amongst residence. Using ingredients chosen by students, the work is also an appreciation for the hawker heritage in MacPherson and the food that nourishes residents.
